Get a free monthly membership to the Durango Tool Library, and borrow the tools you need at no cost.

With a month membership, you can borrow up to 8 tools for 1 week at a time throughout the month.

You'll have access to a variety of tools, including tools for general repair, carpentry and woodworking, painting, sewing, gardening, bicycle repair, ski/snowboard repair, and more!

How to Claim Your Free Month

Review criteria

You qualify to get a free month of tool borrowing if you:

  • Live in La Plata county.

  • Are over 18 years of age.

  • Employed full-time or part-time at a restaurant or hospitality service.

Eligible services include: Restaurants, food trucks, and bars; Hotels, motels, and lodgings; Coffee shops and bakeries; Beverage production, like breweries, cideries, wineries; Catering services; and related sectors.

Become a member of In The Weeds

Get an In The Weeds membership pass. ​To get a pass, visit the In The Weeds office.

​​

Location: 1211 Main Ave, #5 & #6.

Above Central Bank. Take the door on the left side of the building. Go up the stairs and down to the end of the hall.

Hours: MTWTF, 10 am - 4 pm. 

​​

If you already have a ITW membership pass, skip to step 3.

In The Weeds (ITW)

ITW is a non-profit that supports service industry workers in SW Colorado.

 

Access resources, opportunities, and support in building healthier lifestyles and stronger communities.

 

Participate in ITW events and programs: Attend yoga classes, Climb at GravityLab, Rent outdoor gear, Take a training, Get job search support, Find supporting resources, and more.

Become a member of Durango Tool Library

First, create a member account. Do not select a member subscription yet.

​​

Second, visit DTL to finish your member account set-up and claim your free month.

​

Location: 278 Sawyer Drive, #4A.

​​

Hours: WTFS, 11 am - 7 pm.

​​

Please bring:

  • ITW membership pass.

  • ID, to verify that you are who you say you are.

  • Proof of address, to verify you live in SW Colorado (like a digital bill or piece of mail).

  • Credit or debit card, to keep on file (just in case of late, damaged, or missing tools).

Durango Tool Library (DTL)

DTL is a public benefit corporation that provides sustainable, affordable access to tools.

​

By sharing tools, DTL members gain access to more tools, more affordably than they could alone. Each member contributes a monthly or annual subscription fee to help curate and maintain the tools for the community to use.

​​

DTL also provides access to supporting resources to help folks learn how to use tools safely, confidently.

Start your month of free tool borrowing

DTL will apply a credit to your DTL account. You can start your 1 month of free tools whenever you want within 1 year.

​

When you want to start borrowing tools, start a monthly subscription. Either come to DTL in person or do it yourself online.

 

To do it yourself online, log in to your member account, click your name (top right corner) > Account > Membership Options. Select the monthly membership option, and uncheck the auto-renew option.

The free monthly memberships are subject to the same requirements as any DTL membership.

This includes providing ID, proof of local address, and means of payment for late, damaged, or missing tools. It also includes signing a Waiver and Tool Borrowing & Use Policy.
